Digital Fashion Week Most Promising Designer Award

Shaped by Jacqueline’s experience of temporary memory loss after a traumatic period, this work reconsiders the everyday objects through which identity is felt and reconstructed, including a menstrual pad brought directly into the language of streetwear and avatar style. That unusual directness gives the piece raw emotional force and could spark strong engagement in Roblox, where recognizable, conversation-driving items often spread quickly through social worlds.
Annabel's piece holds power in the restraint of how it delivers horror. Rather than relying on excess, Annabel builds tension through stillness, texture, and form. The stone-like treatment makes the figure feel frozen in time, while the hidden face and singular eye create a psychological unease that lingers. There is also a strong intelligence in the reference mix — drawing from both classical sculpture and cosmic horror to create something that feels ancient, emotional, and visually strange. That gave the work a distinct aesthetic identity, strong creativity, and an authenticity of mood that made it feel both conceptually rich and instantly memorable.

Xiao is not simply designing futuristic armor — he is designing a philosophy of future existence. The piece feels considered from multiple angles: form, embodiment, behavior, and emotion. The silhouette suggests protection and adaptation, while the materials and extensions imply a being that is networked, perceptive, and constantly evolving. What made it memorable was not only its technical execution and originality, but also the way it implies a larger world and a character with an inner life. It feels like a design built for speculative gameplay, but also for a deeper conversation about what future personhood could become.

Marium’s look does not use fantasy just for spectacle — it uses fantasy as a personal language. The designer takes the familiar visual codes of armor, protection, and warrior iconography and gives them emotional specificity through her own lived experience. The contrast between hardness and softness in the silhouette mirrors the tension in her story: strength shaped by pain, and resilience that still makes room for vulnerability. That combination gave the piece strong originality, a clear aesthetic point of view, and a level of authenticity that made it feel deeply human.

FAQ

What’s the difference between Character Design and Costume Design?
Character design focuses on the complete creation of a character, including their backstory, world-building considerations, and physical appearance from head to toe. Costume design, on the other hand, is focused solely on the clothing or outfit the character wears and does not include their physical features.
Can I nominate a game or designer more than once?
To ensure fairness and diversity in nominations, we kindly ask that you limit submissions for a specific game or designer to a maximum of three entries. If you feel strongly about nominating them multiple times, you are welcome to do so within this limit. However, please note that exceeding this rule will result in your nominations being dismissed.
Can I nominate more than one game or designer?
Absolutely! We encourage you to submit nominations for multiple games or designers to help us create a varied and exciting list for our awards ceremony. Please remember that each submission must focus on a single game or designer at a time. Submissions listing multiple names or titles in a single entry will not be considered.
